Nordic Stone Age Paleo Bread

Before getting to the easy homemade delicious nordic stone age paleo bread  recipe, first, a short introduction to the paleo diet…

The word “Paleo” is derived from reference to the Stone Age which is said to have existed between 500,000 to 250,000 years before Christ, and was divided into the lower, middle and the upper Paleolithic ages, before the onset of the bronze age(about 6000-2500 BCE) , followed by the iron age.

During the stone age, also known as the Paleolithic age, historians lead us to believe that  our ancestors lived an unforgiving hard life, but were reputed to be healthy and strong enough to survive the principle of “survival of the fittest,” by keeping to a stark diet of basic uncooked foods including meat, vegetables, nuts and berries.

From the historian’s viewpoint, this age was significant, for man, as a race, survived in a highly competitive scenario, despite the various hazards, and succeeded more as a food gatherer than as a food producer. This age is also known for what is termed the greatest invention in the history of mankind, the making of fire.

Taking advantage of these facts, modern health and fitness gurus have created what is known as the paleo dietsaid to be designed on the basis of how our ancestors lived and ate in those three different ages. The idea is that the diet would imitate all the good things of the food habits of that age, to give you a healthy and fit tomorrow.

There are many who claim that the Paleolithic diet is a gift of nature and not the innovation of health experts or weight loss gurus. The diet, surprisingly, holds out several positive features that seem automatically to get your body into a health mode, with enhanced energy, sex drive, induced weight loss and buildup of a strong immune system.

A simple paleo diet plan for a day would, most likely, be modeled on a caveman’s available food at that time, like fruits, vegetables, meat, and and other inputs. In the present-day context, this diet severely prohibits the intake of soda pop, potatoes, alcohol and coffee.

A typical paleo menu for a day could be something like this:

Breakfast: Eggs, paleo bread, lean steak, spinach, lean turkey meat and grilled peaches.

Lunch: Grilled chicken breast, broccoli, cauliflower, grilled fish and papaya.

Dinner: Grilled steak, lettuce, turkey bacon, lean meat.

Snacks:  Fruits and nuts

Nordic Stone Age Paleo Bread No Nuts Recipe

I see this recipe as a no nuts paleo stone age since the almond and flax seeds are not considered as nuts. If you are unsure, then just skip these ingredients and make the recipe or even add your own that you prefer.

The common Paleo bread made from Flax Seed powder, is considered a primary part of this special diet, and is said to be highly beneficial, because flax seeds are rich in omega-three and six fatty acids, potassium, protein and linoleic and folic acids, and consequently, being poly saturated fats(the good ones), have this effect of lowering cholesterol levels and minimizing the fear of heart ailments..
