Baked Macaroni and Cheese Recipe

  • 8 ox. box of pasta (I used whole wheat shells)
  • 4-5 tablespoons of butter
  • ¼ cup flour (I used whole wheat flour)
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 tsp mustard
  • 2 cups milk
  • paprika (I used a little less than ¼ of a teaspoon)
  • 4 cups or 2 bags of shredded cheddar cheese (I used sharp and mild)
  1. Cook the pasta according to directions.
  2. Melt butter in pan and add flour, seasonings, and mustard and just stir over low to medium heat for a few minutes.
  3. Pour in the milk. Stir or whisk for about 8-10 minutes, until it’s nice and creamy!
  4. Remove from the burner and add 2 cups of cheese.
  5. Pour sauce over pasta and then pour half of mac and cheese into a baking or casserole dish. Add 1 cup of cheese on top. Pour in other half of mac and cheese and add remaining cheese on top.
  6. Feel free to top with paprika or bread crumbs if you desire!
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes at 375 degrees F.
