Why Is A Herb Rub Important When Roasting Chicken?

Some herbs like thyme, rosemary, and sage are essential to any good roasted chicken recipe. They add flavor, but they also release essential oils when they’re introduced to the heat of a roasting pan or oven. When these oils are exposed to heat in this way, they release their flavors into the air around them. These flavors then coat the outside of the chicken pieces with an aromatic coating.

This is why it’s important to use herbs for roasting chicken – not only do they make it taste better, but they also make it smell amazing and look scrumptious on the plate too!

Spice rubs are Essential for Deliciousness

Spice rubs are the foundation of flavor in a dish. They can be sweet, spicy, or savory.

The word “rub” is derived from the same root as “rubber” and means to “grind,” which is how you typically make spice rubs.

A spice rub often includes salt and some form of sugar to balance the flavors and add a bit of sweetness.

What Ingredients do You Need for a herb rub?

There are a few ingredients that are essential to any good herb rub.

  • Olive oil – This is the primary ingredient and adds a lot of flavor to the mix.
  • Salt – Salt helps to balance out the flavors of other ingredients and also makes a meal more satisfying.
  • Pepper – You can never go wrong with pepper. When it’s added in small quantities, it will add just enough heat to make your meal exciting and tastier.
  • Garlic – A garlic clove is all you need for a wonderful rub on your steak or grilled vegetables.

Make the Perfect Herb Rub for your Roast Chicken

Ever since I first made this herb rub, my family and friends have been asking me for the recipe. The combination of pepper, garlic, thyme, and paprika makes it so flavorful.

The key to making this recipe is to use a mortar and pestle or food processor to crush all the ingredients together. This makes sure that they are evenly distributed and also gives the dish a rustic feel. You can also use a herb grinder or even your old(or not so old) coffee grinder too.

I like to serve this with a side of roasted vegetables like potatoes or carrots.

Roasted Chicken With Herbes De Provence, Easy Provencal Recipe

Roasted chicken with herbes de Provence baked in the oven that evokes the flavors of the South of France:

Herbes de Provence, thyme, rosemary all drizzled with olive oil garnished all around with garlic clove and shallots. I accompanied this chicken with carrots and onions melting in the mouth and fragrant to wishes.

I love aromatic herbs when I don’t have much time in front of me (the weekend especially) I prepare for dinner a roast chicken in casserole, I let my chicken marinate in the refrigerator for a few hours so when I’m back home I add the vegetables and hop in the oven for 1 hour of cooking about everything will depend on the weight of the latter. I often accompany my baked chicken with rice, fried potato, sautéed green beans, mashed potatoes without forgetting a good baguette of bread to saucer.

Halfway through cooking the chicken I water the surface of the cooking juice which gives a crispy skin thanks to the fat of the latter and this is what I like most about roast chicken.

The herbs of Provence bring a lot of flavor but the cloves of whole garlic, shallot and lemon are not left out that flavor the cooking juice throughout the cooking. I advise you to use fresh thyme and rosemary it is so much better and fragrant.

This roasted chicken with herbes de Provence is an ideal convivial dish to close the week, so with chicken leftovers there are a multitude of recipes such as the chicken salad that I proposed a few times ago, or Mexican tacos and without forgetting the chicken quesadillas for picnics or pool outing especially as the days are very hot at the moment a cold sandwich does us the greatest good.
